Assistant General Manager

Linn Cooperative Oil Company (Linn Coop), Cedar Rapids, IA is very successful five-location cooperative ($166M in sales in FY23) with an intense focus on customer service.   Due to continued growth and open to new opportunities, Linn Coop desires to hire an Assistant General Manager.   Located in Cedar Rapids and with a nice blend of rural and urban customers, Linn Coop has been satisfying customers for 95 years.   It has 97 employees driving the agronomy, energy, grain, car care, and lawn care departments.   Linn Coop is supported by CoBank as its lender and is part of the UBG retirement program.

 

The Asst. General Manager will work with the General Manager and nine-member Board of Directors.  He/she will directly assist the General Manager by providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership for all aspects of the company and will closely coordinate and work with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team on long-term goals, growth, profit, and return on investment opportunities.

 

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the ag retail business (either cooperative or independent).  The candidate must have previous employee leadership/supervisory experience including identifying, coaching, and developing talent.  The successful candidate will have some level of P&L accountability and demonstrated financial acumen.   Significant experience in agronomy and/or energy is highly desirable.  Finally, excellent interpersonal communication skills are absolutely required for this position.
