The Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) reports to the Executive Council and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of ASFMRA, its program implementation and all staff functions.

Leadership
-
Provide leadership in the development of the society’s vision statement, mission, and goals, and the corresponding strategies, plans, and budgets to achieve them
-
Maintain and build successful relationships to keep abreast of emerging issues of significance to the association management profession
-
Act as the spokesperson for the association
-
Promote collaboration with and among the Society’s Chapters and the national organization
Operational Planning and Management
-
Work to ensure budget is met or exceeded
-
Hiring and oversee training of all staff
-
Oversee and evaluate fundraising and campaign work
-
Approve and implement staff development and evaluation
-
Meet consistently with staff to review goals, identify issues and problem solve
-
Secure training and professional development opportunities
-
Evaluate staff success using pre-established benchmarks
-
Provide guidance and support to all staff in positive ways
Governance
-
Work with the Executive Council to ensure effective governance of the organization
-
Make recommendations and support the Executive Council during orientation & evaluation
-
Help the Executive Council implement vision and goals
-
With the Council, oversee the fiscal health of the organization

Staff support and liaison to the Council

Propose agendas for the Executive Council, Board of Directors, other committees and groups, reflecting issues, opportunities, and priorities

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
​
-
10 years of experience in senior leadership positions with a clear record of success and achievement in leading non-profit organizations or associations is highly desirable
-
Ability to develop constituent leadership within an organization
-
Experience in and knowledge of national associations and their interplay between members, Chapters, committees, and boards/councils
-
Proven financial experience with a track record of growing budgets
-
Leadership and management experience developing and motivating a team to deliver exceptional performance
-
Success in building positive relationships with coalition partners, businesses and elected officials

Education and Experience Desired:
-
Bachelor's degree
-
7-10 years as a senior leader for a mid-level association or non-profit preferred
