Grain Originator / Merchandiser

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Trade commodities while developing relationships with local farming/commercial community through direct communication.

• Collaboratively develop trading/hedging strategies that enhance profits.

• Assist with grain origination program including FOB and farm direct to help meet/exceed growth goals in bushels brought to market.

• Facilitate and capture efficiencies with operations and other business units.

• Learn and develop a base knowledge of our customers’ businesses including the functionality of their farming operations.

• Provide customers with knowledge of the markets.

• Help manage logistics of truck fleet.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years’ experience in Commodity Merchandising/Origination/Trading

• Strong knowledge of futures markets, hedging, and arbitrage

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent customer service and relationship building skills

• Excellent mathematical skills (e.g., supply and demand relationships, analysis of price relationships)

• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize workload, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously

• Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, (e.g., Excel and MS Word)

• Must be a motivated self-starter

• Must be a team-player

• Must prioritize safety at all times
