Since 1976,

Hedlin Ag Enterprises has specialized in retained executive search for agribusinesses and agricultural associations throughout the United States. Why has it endured since founded by Larry Hedlin? It’s our philosophy and dedication to strive to be the best, not the biggest.

MaxYield Cooperative (MYC), an established and successful nineteen location cooperative with FY20 sales of $305M is conducting a search for a new CEO due to the impending retirement of its current CEO.   Headquartered in West Bend in north central Iowa, MYC has 200 full-time employees driving the grain, agronomy, energy and feed departments.   MYC is supported by CoBank as its lender and is part of the ABC retirement program.

The CEO will report to a nine-member Board of Directors and will be responsible for the administration, implementation, and control of all planning and operational aspects of the business. He/she will provide management leadership in the planning and determination of business strategies, policies and programs.  The person will also be responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of operations through nine direct reports.

A cooperative background is not required; however, the successful candidate will have progressive leadership experience in the ag industry with successful P&L accountability.  The greatest emphasis will be placed on evaluating individual situations regarding job complexity, P&L and balance sheet accountability, and results/success.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the ag retail business (independent or cooperative).   Risk management knowledge and experience in grain marketing and/or grain/agronomy operations is highly desirable.  The candidate must have previous employee leadership/supervisory experience.  The candidate must have experience driving an annual and/or capital budgeting process, as well as implementation.  The candidate must be comfortable with the use of technology in personal dealings and in business operations.  Finally, excellent interpersonal communication skills are absolutely required for this position.

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in the future success of an established and highly-respected cooperative.   Interested candidates should confidentially submit their application for consideration by confidentially contacting Kevin Drury at or at 515.964.7997.
