Senior Director, Membership

The Senior Director of Membership and Communications will oversee and coordinate all functions of the membership team.  She/he will serve as a primary liaison between state and national associations.  

The Details

Reports to:   Senior Vice President, Membership and Communications

 

General Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate all functions of membership team. Serve as a primary liaison between state and national associations. Increase NCBA membership and strengthen affiliate relations while providing outstanding service to producer members, stakeholders and affiliates.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a staff liaison with assigned state affiliates, their executives, staff and members to develop and create NCBA membership strategies, finalize and monitor state marketing plans, and help states execute their membership strategies to meet NCBA membership objectives

  • Manage membership staff to ensure membership goals are met and affiliate relations are maintained at a high level

  • Represent NCBA at state affiliate conventions and meetings, and other events as needed

  • Develop, in cooperation with internal team, membership marketing campaigns and related materials

  • Manage all logistics of recruitment mailings

  • Ensure dropped member calls are made in a timely manner by staff

  • Respond to member and affiliate requests, from mail, email and phone calls

  • Assist with development and execution of email and social media recruitment strategies

  • Oversee Top Hand Club program

  • Manage and administer NCBA member benefit programs

  • Manage recruitment and retention efforts of the department

  • Collaborate with communications department to design and execute the production, and dissemination of membership communications, including those produced for states

  • Collaborate with NCBA Denver and Washington staff to best serve member needs

  • Plan, organize and maintain necessary files, mailing lists, prospect lists, and timelines to maximize membership and revenue development efforts

  • Participate in state and national activities and planning that concern membership development

  • Advocate for NCBA members, affiliates and supporters

  • Assist with administrative duties relative to membership database functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications: Successful candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, agriculture communications or agriculture marketing plus minimum of seven to ten years of related experience.  Must be pleasant, outgoing, and at ease meeting new people with a desire to make member service and growth a priority.  Strong written, oral, and platform communication skills are a must.  Proven experience with social media platforms is preferred. Knowledge about practices and economics of the beef cattle industry is required. Candidate must have a commitment to upholding beef’s position as the preferred protein and should possess a passion for working for America’s farmers and ranchers. Must have comprehensive knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Constant Contact and the internet. Experience with Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint a plus. Travel is required and may be extensive at times.
