PRESS RELEASE

Agriculture Cooperative Association

September 8, 2026

Agriculture cooperatives from Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota have come together to form the Agriculture Cooperative Association, a new regional organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting agricultural cooperatives across the three states.

The organization was created in response to the growing need for agricultural cooperatives to have access to shared education, cooperative services, and a stronger collective voice in government affairs.

By bringing cooperatives together, the Agriculture Cooperative Association will provide opportunities for collaboration, professional development, resource sharing, and advocacy on issues important to the cooperative agriculture community.

The association will focus its efforts on three primary areas:

Education: Providing educational programs, training, leadership development, and opportunities for cooperative management, employees, and directors to learn from one another and stay informed on issues affecting agriculture and cooperatives.

Cooperative Services: Identifying and developing services, resources, and programs that can help agricultural cooperatives operate more effectively, improve their organizations, and better serve their members.

Government Affairs: Representing and advancing the interests of agricultural cooperatives by engaging with policymakers and government officials at the state and federal levels and providing a collective voice on legislation and regulatory issues affecting cooperatives and agriculture.

The Agriculture Cooperative Association will begin its first fiscal year on January 1st, 2027, and will look to have the first annual meeting in August of 2027. The Association is currently looking for a Chief Executive Officer to run the Association and will report to the 9-member board of directors. We have contracted Hedlin Ag with Laura Blomme heading up the search. Anyone interested in the opportunity may confidentially contact Laura at 515.444.7342 or lblomme@hedlinag.com.

The Association currently has an interim board of directors comprised of cooperatives leaders from the 3 states, with 3 directors being from each state.

The Agriculture Cooperative Association will serve as a forum for cooperatives across Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota to connect, collaborate, and address issues of common interest.

Please be on the lookout for the Association's LinkedIn page and future communications. If you have any questions, please reach out to any of the board of directors listed below.
