LOCATION

Amana Society, Inc. is a heritage company located in the Amana Colonies of east-central Iowa. Amana is located approximately 20 minutes from Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. This role is on-site.

WHO WE ARE:

The Amana Colonies are a group of seven historic villages in Eastern Iowa, founded in 1855 by German immigrants seeking religious freedom. They created a self-sufficient communal society rooted in craftsmanship, agriculture, and shared resources. Communal living ended in 1932, but the cultural and architectural heritage remains deeply preserved, making the Colonies a popular destination for history buffs, nature lovers, and artisan seekers.

When communal life ended, the Amana Society, Inc. was formed to manage the community’s assets and preserve its legacy. It operates as a private, for-profit corporation and oversees a diverse portfolio of businesses, including agriculture and cattle ranching, furniture and wool production, retail shops, hotel and events venues, and more. These businesses continue to reflect Amana’s heritage of quality and sustainability.
