Executive Director

The Executive Director reports to the board of directors and is responsible for all aspects of management and implementation of the Foundation’s long-term strategic direction.  This role requires strong leadership, communication, and financial skills to ensure the Foundation’s success, including fostering donor and sponsor relationships. A passion for agricultural education is essential, as the ED engages in fundraising and community outreach to support future agriculturalists in their career development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Iowa FFA Foundation (the Foundation), based in Ankeny, IA and founded in 1986, is a nonprofit corporation that cultivates partnerships supporting agricultural education. The Foundation seeks and provides financial support to agricultural education organizations in Iowa. Supported organizations include the Iowa FFA Association, Iowa FFA Alumni Association, Professional Agricultural Students of Iowa, and the Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators. The Foundation supports the development of advanced educational programs in agriscience, agribusiness, and production agriculture.

 

The Executive Director reports to a 14-member board of directors including a 5-member executive committee. The Executive Director (ED) will lead a staff of four and as such will be familiar with the Foundations policies, procedures, and processes. Through the staff, the ED will oversee the successful operation of the FFA Enrichment Center. Additionally, the ED will be responsible for implementing the long-term strategic direction of the Foundation. This includes input from and interaction with the Foundation board of directors, the Iowa FFA Association, Team Ag Ed leaders, and chapter advisors. The ED also develops relationships with all major donors and sponsors and becomes familiar with sponsorship details.

 

The Executive Director must have strong organizational and leadership skills to be successful in this role. This includes both excellent interpersonal and public communication skills as well as financial acumen to ensure the financial health of the Foundation. The ED must have a passion for ag education. This will manifest itself in community engagement and fundraising. The ED must have a desire to make a difference in the lives of future agriculturalists, helping to lead them to a better understanding of agriculture and career opportunities in the industry.
