Farmers Cooperative Company (FCC), an established and successful cooperative with 55M in sales is hiring a new General Manager due to retirement.  Headquartered in Readlyn, in Northeast Iowa, it has 25+ full-time employees driving the grain, agronomy, and feed departments.  FCC is supported by CoBank as its lender and is part of the ABC retirement program. 

            The General Manager will report to a seven-member Board of Directors and will be responsible for the administration, implementation, and control of all planning and operational aspects of the business. He/she will provide management leadership in the planning and determination of business strategies, policies, and programs.  The person will also be responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of operations through the leaders of each department.

            The ideal candidate will have successful managerial experience in the ag industry with P&L accountability. However, the greatest emphasis will be placed on evaluating individual situations regarding job complexity, P&L and balance sheet accountability, and results/success.

            The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the ag retail business (independent or cooperative).  Grain marketing experience and risk management knowledge will be highly desirable.  Background knowledge and understanding of agronomy and feed operations is preferred.  The candidate must have previous employee leadership/supervisory experience.  The candidate must have experience driving an annual and/or capital budgeting process, as well as implementation.  Finally, excellent interpersonal communication skills are absolutely required for this position.
